your love is a raging sea

Well hello first sickness of the Winter.
I thought that my sniffles yesterday was just one of my 24 hour allergy attacks.
But no... I have a sinus infection and ear infection.
I'm just thankful that I have it now - not over Thanksgiving break.
I have lots of people to see and places to go and I don't want it getting me down :)

But anyway...
I did not get on here to blog about being sick.
Instead I got on to talk about a random thought that I have been thinking about so much lately.
Have you every just wanted to
go lay in a field in the middle of no where,
lay a quilt down, and just look up at the stars?
I don't know why but this constantly pops into my mind.
Every time I leave Irene's I can see the stars so clearly.
There is one spot where I can just see them so prefectly and it's when I get to the main road off the three back roads that you have to drive on to get to her house.  It's at a stop sign and when I look to the left to see if there are any cars coming I can just look up and see what seems to be every star in the sky.  It is just so cool!  And to think that our God created that. wow! gives me chills!

Next thing...
My devotions this week...
(yes I've stayed up to date... patting myself on the back)
The theme is prayer.
Which is such an appropriate topic right now.
As I've already begun praying for my journey with younglife,
I am now beginning to pray for my other team members,
as well as the students that I will soon be meeting!
Well I'm going to share some quotes that I like and some verses.
Prayer really is the answer to so many problems that have come up in my life.
No, it may not work for you instantly.  But if you truly trust in our God, He will answer your prayers.  It's a little thing...
well not so little thing, called FAITH.
God is faithful to us, so He deserves for us to be faithful to him.
Easier said than done... as many things in life are.
But I just urge you, if you don't already, have a relationship with Christ.
Pray to Him, talk to Him, when you're scared turn to Him, that's what He's there for.
What He wants more than anything is for us to be His friend.
WHAT?!
No way... He doesn't want us to be his friend.
Oh yes... He does.  He loves us that much!  He adores us that much!
What a concept?!
Anyway... on to the verses and quotes.

My devotion from yesterday came from Matthew 6:5-15... don't be lazy go read the whole thing. I'm going to share with you my favorite verse, however the whole thing is amazing!  I just don't want to ruin it for you :)  "But when you pray, go into your room close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." -Matthew 6:6  This section also includes the Lord's prayer... which is such a ritual thing, but it's so cool to just read it from the Bible.

My devotion from today came from John 17:1-26... the subjects are Jesus Prays for Himself, Jesus Prays for His Disciples, Jesus Prays for All Believers.  Again, go read it.  I'm going to share some of my favorite parts.  "All I have is yours, and all you have is mine.  And glory has come to me through them." -John 17:10  Another part I really liked was: "I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me.  May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me." -John 17:22-23

Some quotes in my devotional book that I really liked:
"Prayer tomorrow starts today, or there is no prayer tomorrow." from Prayer is a Hunger by Edward J. Farrell
"Prayer is a journey, a path that is created only by walking it. It creates and reveals oneself in the process." also from Prayer is a Hunger by Edward J. Farrell

I hope everyone has had a great day :)  We are getting even closer to Thanksgiving break... yayyyy!
