when you wish upon a star

Okay, so!  I was in mid-blog when Hunter picked me up on Friday to go to camp... so I'm going to try to write this one again...  Hope that it will be as well put as it was going to be in the first place!  God has been SO SO SO present in my life lately... as I said in my last blog.  And I just keep seeing Him everywhere I turn, which is such a great reminder and reassurance.  Well on Friday I decided to read my devotion from the night before (Thursday), go ahead and read my devotion for that night, and then read my devotion for tonight, because I knew I wouldn't want to read it when I got home from camp... well here we go again... God just continues to be like "hello Caitlin, I love you and I am right here with you."

So Thursday's devotion comes from 2 Chronicles 7:12-22
I picked my favorite from this:
"Now my eyes will be open and attentive to the prayers offered in this place." - 2 Chronicles 7:15
So God is attentive to the prayers that I have constantly been praying, thank you for reassuring me by telling me in my devotion.  This is just too cool.

Friday's devotion comes from Isaiah 55:6-13
Again, I'm going to pick my favorite from this:
"Seek the Lord while he is found; call on him while he is near."  - Isaiah 55:6
Well, hello what have I been telling you?  That God is so present in my life right now... well here we go again, He's telling me to seek him and call on him while he is near which is exactly what I am doing!

wait... it gets cooler!

Saturday's devotion comes from Jeremiah 29:10-14
Favorite:
"Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."  - Jeremiah 29:12-13
Normally I would tell you my favorite verse from this portion is Jeremiah 29:11, but not this time... I already know that God has plans to give me hope and a future and not to harm me.  However, He is yet again telling me to seek him with all my heart and I will find him.

This by no means just so happened this way... It definitely happened because of God and I am so very thankful for this it's just way too cool!  I am so happy right now and just love life.  Everyone in my life I can honestly say that I love and just want to spread my love and Christ's love to them!

Now on to what I did this weekend... :)
Friday - Hunter and I headed to camp!  Got to camp, hung out with Sharon and the kids!  Mark, Sharon, the kids, and I ate dinner.  Then I babysat the kids while they went to the store.  When they got home we just hung out and talked.
Saturday - woke up this morning, fixed the storm shades in the huts on chico and mainside with Callie.  Hung out with LB.  Ate lunch with a ton of people that came to workday!  Then went back to the Buerhaus and hung out/helped Sharon.  Then went to Wal-Mart (drove the minivan...haha)  and got some groceries, came back, Hunter grilled out.  Then Angie and Chris came over and we all ate and watched the Auburn game!!
WAR EAGLEEEE!

Oh!  So last time when Hunter and I were on our way back to Auburn from camp we saw a shooting star... while we were driving!  Well, tonight right as we turned out of camp I was thinking about how cool it would be if we saw one again... but I didn't say anything, because I figured we wouldn't.  Well what do you know when we are about half way back to Auburn there is a huge shooting star that shoots right above the windshield... I mean it was so huge and so beautiful!  The stars tonight were so gorgeous I just want to go lay in a big field on a quilt and look up at the sky and watch the stars!

This weekend was so much fun!  I just love being at camp!  It is my home... away from home.  I felt so domestic this weekend... haha!  I just love spending time with Sharon and helping her out.  It's like free practice of becoming a mom... which if you know me I obviously of course cannot wait to have kids! :)

Well time to go to bed :)  Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

God is great!

I cannot tell you how awesome our God is...
in case you didn't already know.
Which I'm sure you did,
just as I did,
but I'm just reminded daily and it is so awesome!

First of all I have this daily devotional book that I got when I went to Sharp Top with YoungLife back in September.  It's really awesome, and most of the time I'm SO good at keeping up with my devotions.  But then I have those weeks that I'm really bad about keeping up with them, so then one day I'll just start catching up.  Well today was one of those days!  Okay, now let me tell you how cool this is...

So today I had my interview to become a YoungLife leader... which I think went really well!  But I was really nervous about it... so of course I opened my Bible real quick before I left to start catching up on my devotions.  Starting with Monday... and what was it on? Worrying...

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own."
-Matthew 6:33-34

Ok, and then lately everything I have asked for I have received.  Because our God is so GREAT!
Well on to Tuesday's devotional and this is what I get:

"Ask and it will be given to you;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives;
he who seeks finds;
and to him who knocks,
the door will be opened."
-Matthew 7:7-8

Wait... not done yet!  Now that my interview is done and I will be getting a call back about my what Eric thinks and what the next steps will be for me in YoungLife... I think this is reassurance to me.  YoungLife is a ministry, it is going to be hard, I'm going to be turned down by kids who are scared or who just don't want to have anything to do with me.  I am going to have to learn how to be courageous and this will help my FAITH in Christ become even stronger.  Which is going to be a wonderful thing!

"Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a temple as a sanctuary.
Be strong and do the work."
-1 Chronicles 28:8-10

God proves to be awesome... always!
Never give up!  :)

especially the song
Unfailing Love

oh yeah...
I just love this picture of Toomer's

the south will rise again?

so as I'm driving to babysit this morning I get a lovely text from Pettey...
I'm going to share it with you because it just made my day :)
This is why I am friends with this awesome guh... well not the only reason... but this sums up our friendship! love her to death :)

after I babysat I went to get lunch and then picked Aubs up and she came over to me dorm :)

then I napped for a couple of hours, woke up, went to chapter room clean up, went to Mo and Jen's... duh tradish, and did my laundry.
We watched Glee!!!
and 16 & Pregnant...
favorite quote from tonight.
"I don't understand how he even saw you naked you're so modest.  Plus why didn't y'all use a condom?  There are tons of them under the bathroom sink." -Brooke's mother to Brooke

then Mo and I watched Sweet Home Alabama...
LOVE it!

the ball will hit me in the head...

today has been a great day :)
well I went to my 8 o'clock class... Geography and then my 10 o'clock was cancelled and we had a sub in my 11 o'clock so I skipped and took a nap... which was glorious and very needed

then I ate lunch and went to my 2 o'clock
and I hung out with Jen and Mo
I went with them to Chappy's for them to eat din din... and the balloon man was there!!!
I got an aubie and Mo and Jen got a "super Cam"
I ended up giving my aubie to this PRESH little boy who loved it... decided I didn't need it and this little boy needed it way more than me.

Then we went to Matt's intramural game with Kiley which was fun... but they lost :(
Jen was convinced she was going to get hit in the head with the volleyball... which is why this post is named what it is... and she was like "Caitlin you don't understanddddd"
Needless to say... she didn't get hit in the head

Jen and Mo came back to da village with me and we just hung out...
This is why I am friends with them:
Then they said they were going to take my picture out of my camp frame and put a picture of them in... which makes so much sense, seeing how they go to camp and all... NOT!
And they showed off their Super Cam... hahaha they'll be thrilled that I put this up

Life right now is awesome... I am so happy and blessed :)
Ha this post is so pointless oh well

look at the stars, look how they shine for you

Well... yesterday was AUsome!
I woke up, my mom and Trish came and picked me, Marie, Hannah, and Whitney up and we went to tailgate.  I met some LSU fans while tailgating.  I left tailgate around 11:15 to go meet up with Hunter, Jen, and Mo to get in the stadium.  We got our seats!  And Auburn beat LSU!!! yayuhhh!  After the game Hunter and I went back to tailgate and ate... yummm!  Then I came back to my dorm and watched Grey's!

This LSU fan was precious... he offered me some red beans and rice!
This LSU fan was crazyyy yet very awesome!  He asked me "I bet you've never had a fan try to lick your brains before have you?" and then also told Marie and I, "Y'all have some pretty ladies up here in Auburn." ...yeah that's right we do :)  But I loved this man... he was awesome.
I don't know why everyone hates LSU so much... their fans are hilarious!  I loved them!
Me and my other bestie Hunter!

This morning I got up and went to church with Alex and Kevin.  Then we went to FireHouse for lunch. Then Tricia came by and saw my dorm room and I gave her some t-shirts I got her at the Thrift Store!  Tonight I have my last YoungLife leader training!  I'm so excited :)

On a deeper note...
I have been so overwhelmed by God's love lately.
Have you ever thought about if you had taken one step differently on the path you are on right now?  Just one difference... what would you be doing or where would you be.  I mean it's not important because we are where we are, but sometimes that is crazy to think about!  That's why it is important to watch where you step but at the same time have enough faith in God that you will choose the right path through Him.

This is one of my favorite verses... I gave it on a canvas I painted for my baby cousin on his 1st Birthday but it was in my devotional last night and I thought it was appropriate :)  Enjoy!
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity."  - 1 Timothy 4:12

two hours and half a tank of gas later...

I came to Birmingham this afternoon!!
I really just needed to get away from Auburn.  I feel like I'm getting sick.  So I just decided to make a trip home!

Driving and I have a love hate relationship.  I always think WAY too much when I drive.  But at the same time I always love thinking about things...
Today I realized I have a huge fear of being stuck on a bridge in rush hour traffic and think that it is going to fall in.  I realized that I need to calm it down, I am only 19 and I need to act my age, live in the moment, and have fun.  I realized that my favorite song right now is Just A Dream by Nelly.  There are tons of other things I was going to blog about but just cannot remember now, of course.  I realized... well I already knew that I have a terrible memory.

Let me just share with you my love for Birmingham.  I CANNOT wait until I graduate and can move back.  I love this city so much.  Birmingham is my home and I miss it like crazyyyy!  I really just love it!  I'm ready to be back in the Magic City!

Well as I was walking to my dorm after my 2 o'clock class I text Pettey and was like I'm coming to B'ham tonight!!  And she was like perfect I want some yomo later tonight... Well we ended up going to O'Henry's Coffee in downtown Homewood, which was even better!!
I could not have a more cool and amazing friend!
I love this girl to death... like really.  You have no idea!

Of course I had to get a picture of Gracie kitty! :)  love her even if I am allergic.

Time to go... but I am going to leave this verse from my devotion last night that I really liked!

"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith, goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, LOVE."  - 2 Peter 1:5-7

productive days

today was awesome!!!
I went class and then lunch with Aubrey, Caroline, Carter, Hunter, Janie, and Richard!
It was great!
Then I hung with Caro and Aubs until my Social Work class.
We found out today where we are going to be observing next week... and my group is observing at the domestic violence place?  Sorry... can't remember the name.
Then, I came to babysit!
I started my social work paper.
Ramogi was so good :)
He sat in my lap while I was typing my paper!
Then I put Ramogi to bed.
I wrote my Spiritual Autobiography.
And caught up on some devo's that I was really behind on!

Oh yeah! Check this video out! I like it a lot!

well this is about to get real deep...

So I am going through YoungLife training right now.
I am absolutely in love with it and cannot wait to start working with the kids and having a better relationship with Christ.

I've come to realize a lot of things about Christianity and Christians recently....
so many Christians say they're Christians... but are they really?
I could say I'm a fisherman.  Have all the top brand fishing rods and poles.  Have every book on fish, where they live, what they eat, all the statistics on fishing.  But until I go out and experience fishing, I'm not a fisherman.  That's just one analogy.  Are we really Christians... do we go out there and seek people?  Or do we just go to church every Sunday and sometimes Wednesday's?

As Christians we have to PURSUE people... People are not going to come to us and say, "hey! I wanna be a Christian."  Jesus pursued people... He didn't worry about his reputation.  Jesus hung out with sinners, prostitutes, drunks, adulterers, religious leaders, poor, sick, broken, I could go on.  Jesus did not worry about "you are who you hang out with."  So why do we worry about this?

I know this really easy for me to say.  Which why my journey with Christ is about to take me on a trip of pursuing new people and new things.

some quotes that I really like:
"Love with NO strings attached."
"Prayer is not preparation for the work, it IS the work."
"Ministry without prayer, may be the biggest form of arrogancy."
"the heart is the center of life."

some verses that are my favorites right now:
"You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.  Remain in me, and I will remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.  'I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
- John 15:3-5

"And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
- Colossians 3:14

"The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
 - 1Samuel 16:7

"and the pig went wee wee wee all the way home"

WARRRR EAGLE!!!
Yesterday was AMAZING!
Catherine, Marie, Whitney, Hannah, and I went to tailgate with my mom and everyone.
Then we left and went to meet Hunter, Mo, Jen, and Jordan at the gate.
That game was by far one of the best Auburn games I've been too.
This was not a lucky win.  We deserved this win! :)
Here are some pics of the AWESOME game.

today... yes today

So today, I didn't have class or have to babysit...
I do not like it when I don't have productive days.
So I got a little bit crafty!!
I finished my kite for my little...

I also splatter painted my TOMS...

and then I went to dinner with Aubrey and Caroline at Veggies To Go :)
now I'm watching Grey's with Alex...
funny story from yesterday:
We were standing outside the chapter room getting ready to go in to chapter.  This spider came running in from outside and then Lena goes "spider!!!" and of course it turns towards me and jumps and I scream and then Ashley comes in and saves the day by killing the spider... thank goodness!
it reminded me of the spider from this summer that Veronica found in the bathroom of Reimel at camp...
it was a little bit smaller than that one though!

have to share this...

Well... I'm not the most conservative person in the world.
However... I'm definitely not the most liberal.
Left-wing moderate I would call myself.

I definitely believe in women's rights and in equal rights for Gay and Lesbians... thought I'd just throw that out there as a little background information before I tell you this story.

So I am currently in Intro to Social Work (my minor) and there are three Theta's besides myself in our class... Campbell, Ashley, and Jenn.

Well there is this student in our class... he is one of those that everyone has in one of their classes that is just ignorant and always has something to say.  Well he/she always pushes my buttons, but I just always act like the classy girl I am and keep my mouth shut.

A couple of weeks ago he was talking about how his "old woman" (keep in mind he is 20ish) is pregnant with his baby.  Of course he is not married, which that's fine, whatever floats your boat... or sinks your ship.  HIS OLD WOMAN... what the heck?! I wanted to ask if it was his grandmother or something... I mean if you're going to treat her like an object at least say my girlfriend or even baby momma... but OLD WOMAN eh eh boo boo.  By the way I kept my mouth shut, although it was hard.
Campbell, Ashley, Jen, and I just all looked at each other and laughed, I vented after class.

K, second story.  Monday, we are talking about a dilemma in Atlanta that is going on with a priest having sexual relations with boys in his church.  Well this particular student goes "He has some sugar in his tank."  To which my professor responds, "What does that mean?" (No one in the class knows what this means either.)  Student says back, "Well it means he's gay."  ME: WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST SAY GAY?!  Student: "Well, I don't know, I didn't want to offend anyone, I don't know how people feel about it."  ME: IT'S MORE OFFENSIVE TO SAY "SUGAR IN THE TANK" THAN TO SAY GAY. YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WITH A PROBLEM.

AHHHH, sorry I just had to post that.  I mean really... some people just blow me away.

and the blogging journey begins...

Soooo... I'm going to do this whole blogging thing thanks to Veronica :)
I mean I don't really know why I'm blogging it's not like anyone is going to follow me.
But I think it will be neat to look at in the future.

I'm really excited for this weekend!  My best friend Catherine is coming to Auburn.
Saturday we are having a tailgate breakfast with our old youth minister Ben and his wife Cassidy, which I'm REALLY excited about!  Then we are heading over to my family tailgate in the hay field.
