So I am going through YoungLife training right now.
I am absolutely in love with it and cannot wait to start working with the kids and having a better relationship with Christ.
I've come to realize a lot of things about Christianity and Christians recently....
so many Christians say they're Christians... but are they really?
I could say I'm a fisherman. Have all the top brand fishing rods and poles. Have every book on fish, where they live, what they eat, all the statistics on fishing. But until I go out and experience fishing, I'm not a fisherman. That's just one analogy. Are we really Christians... do we go out there and seek people? Or do we just go to church every Sunday and sometimes Wednesday's?
As Christians we have to PURSUE people... People are not going to come to us and say, "hey! I wanna be a Christian." Jesus pursued people... He didn't worry about his reputation. Jesus hung out with sinners, prostitutes, drunks, adulterers, religious leaders, poor, sick, broken, I could go on. Jesus did not worry about "you are who you hang out with." So why do we worry about this?
I know this really easy for me to say. Which why my journey with Christ is about to take me on a trip of pursuing new people and new things.
some quotes that I really like:
"Love with NO strings attached."
"Prayer is not preparation for the work, it IS the work."
"Ministry without prayer, may be the biggest form of arrogancy."
"the heart is the center of life."
some verses that are my favorites right now:
"You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 'I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
- John 15:3-5
"And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
- Colossians 3:14
"The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
- 1Samuel 16:7
